What to Bring [ boys | girls ]
When gathering clothes for a photo shoot, please remember: the more the merrier. We would rather have you come with 50 things than 15. Clothing, the color and styles are in many ways like our paints and the better the selection, the more options we have in our composition of the shoot.

Make it easy on yourself. You don't have to pack a suitcase as if you are going on a long journey. If something is on a hanger then leave it. We have plenty of rack space and it is easier for us to work with. If things are folded you can simply stack them in your laundry basket, as this is easier for us to get to and easier on you when you go home. It is not necessary to iron everything. We are taking pictures of real people and most people (especially kids) are wash and wear.

We do appreciate when people purchase new clothes for the shoot, as it does allow us to work with the latest styles, and we are used to working around tags if you are not positive about keeping a purchase. However, many times it does not work when new clothes are bought in a larger size so kids can "grow into" them. We often spend much unnecessary time pinning and clipping oversized garments to make them fit right. Often we would rather have that old pair of jeans that has the hole or the sweater from last year that looks like it really has been lived in.

Remember, our pictures are marketing tools for you or your child, not ads for clothing. If you are in doubt then bring us both the new and the old and we will pick what works better. Many people believe that brand name clothes or clothes that have logos are taboo. Though it is true we do not want to advertise for companies, often times it is the brand name clothes that have the best styling and cut. We would much rather work around a logo on a cute or stylish item then have to try to make a boring plain garment look good.

These days, we are shooting mostly color film so any colors that enhance eye color or complement skin tone are always a plus. We do have an extensive selection of clothes, accessories and props which we mix and match with what you bring us to come up with the right "look."

For Boys
Remember in these shoots we are going for range of age and image. We want everything from Mom's sweetest boy to the guy ripping on a skateboard. Color is key, and we love the look of a cool Hawaiian shirt with a pair of board shorts. Here at the studio we have a good selection of clothes that we will mix and match with what you bring us, so everything you bring does not have to be a complete outfit.
Pants: Everyone should bring one pair of blue jeans; we prefer the looser, more contemporary style (not necessarily baggy but not tight 501s). The carpenter cut is a good choice. Dressy/school looks are also great, so bring a pair of khaki pants.
Tops: An assortment of T-shirts and tank tops are great (white, black or navy), as well as a button-up shirt. Also, a sweater or even a suit would complete the dressy look.  We like the look of layers and need long sleeves.
Jackets: We need an athletic look; this can be a sports uniform, jersey, or a striped adidas style jacket or pants. We like to layer clothing, so bring pull-over hoodies, sweatshirts, jean jackets, letterman jackets, or leather jackets.
Shoes: A pair of athletic shoes would be great—we love the timeless look of Converse sneakers (Chuck Taylors)—along with something darker to go with any dressier clothes. Flip-flops are great for beach looks and make getting around easier as we do sometimes use bare feet.
Hats: Any beanies, baseball caps, bandanas or cool accessories are always welcome.

For Girls
One of our biggest challenges is to take our beautiful girls and make them seem like "real" kids that run around and play. This is most important for commercial and theatrical shots. Print work involves many different aspects. Little girls in many ways simply look like miniature versions of the big models. For example: the "funky-cute" look of the Olsen twins clothing, Limited Too or Delia's catalogue. However, not every client wants 6 year olds wearing go-go boots or animal print. So in addition to the contemporary looks offered at many stores it is also important to find looks that are classic and timeless. This could be a plaid skirt that looks like a school uniform or a flowing pretty dress, cardigan, etc.
Pants: A pair of blue jeans is a must. We prefer a plain pair to a fancy pair. Please no embroidery, tassels, laces, etc., just plain "tomboy" jeans.
Tops/Jackets:
Layering is always important and we encourage you to bring different coats, sweaters, tank tops, etc. We recommend plain sweatshirts, zip-up hoodies, striped athletic hoodies in colors that complement natural beauty features. Old Navy and Gap are great resources for these items.
Shoes: A pair of athletic shoes would be great—we love the timeless look of Converse sneakers (Chuck Taylors). A pair of mary-janes and a pair of flip- flops would also be choices for shoe basics, but any other boots or variations are appreciated.
Hair Accessories/Hats: Any hair accessories, berets, beanies, sunglasses, or other cool ideas are always appreciated.

Day of the shoot
Please bring your old pictures, we love to see your marketing history. Whether you loved or hated your last pictures does not matter. It sometimes helps to know where you have been while we are planning where you are going.

Bring a snack. It is good to have a little something to keep up your energy,

Please do not come early. When people arrive early for a shoot, we are usually still shooting someone else, when you are walking up with all your stuff, we have to stop the shoot address you, tell you where you need to go, etc., which then takes time away from the shoot before you and makes us late to start your shoot. If you are the first shoot of the day, please note that we usually arrive at the studio in time for your shoot, not before. Please call if you get lost or want suggestions about where to get a bite or cup of coffee if you arrive early. But also please note that calling when you arrive early for your shoot will not make us get to the studio or start your shoot any sooner than the scheduled time. Thank you in advance for your consideration and understanding.
